The Vision Fulfilled

Pastor. Romy & Pastora Marylou
BACK TO HOME <<
The hearts of Romy and Marylou Deang are full of praise and thanksgiving to God, their Father, to the Son Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior and to the Holy Spirit, their comforter for the call that was laid upon their lives in the course of their heated divorce that started in the late 1990 and culminated in the middle of 1991. The divorce process was instrumentally used by God and led both of them, on separate occasions, to accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior.
Marylou left alone, in a lake-front custom built house filled with imported furnishings and amenities, was so desperate and determined to end her life when God intervened. She suddenly experienced God's awesome power and presence. Praise God for He is never late but always on time. The peace of God begun to engulf her whole being which led her to acknowledge that nothing in this world, no matter how expensive and beautiful it may be, can fill the emptiness in a man's heart but God alone. Having been touched, she immediately looked for the old Bible given by her daughter Diana in 1981. Diana was a young "Born Again Christian " then, now an Associate Pastor and married to Reynaldo Corpuz, the Senior Pastor of "Our Lord Reigns Worship Center" in Fairfield, Ca. USA. Three months after Marylou's encounter with God, she joined the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) at Richardson Spring, California and became a Missionary.
On the other hand, Romy, whose heart was full of hatred and bitterness towards Marylou, stayed with his oldest daughter, Rezzie married to Al Percival who are also both "Born Again Christians" and actively involved in a "couple ministry" in their church. One Saturday afternoon, John and Betty Stroble, who are full-time Christian missionaries and long time family friends, visited Romy, purposely to reach out to him with an appeal to forgive and forget. They left empty handed because Romy's hardened heart responded negatively to the overture.
The next day, "Sunday" Romy, thru the invitation of Al and Rezzie attended the service at Harvest Church in Elk Grove, California. It was a divine appointment for him to have his own encounter with God. The entire service was an "eye opener" and a "heart softener" for him as he begun to experience the mighty touch of God thru the Power of the Holy Spirit. The mixture of tears and elements coming out of his runny nose has dented and impacted his heart transforming it into a heart of flesh willing to absorb God's healing power.
Romy called Marylou after the service and healing thru forgiveness started to take its hold on both of them. They became close friends with no physical relationship or otherwise. Together they embarked on a missionary journey, starting from Israel and Europe, seeking the lost souls, ministering and sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. One day, as Romy, Marylou and Diana were praying, the manifestation of the Holy Spirit came upon Diana with a prophetic revelation that Romy and Marylou will have to get back together again and get married as long as they dedicate the rest of their lives in serving the Lord. On July 15, 1995, after 3 ½ years of separation, their nine (9) children, from previous marriages, with their 7 grandchildren, joined Romy and Marylou in renewing their vows in a Christian wedding aimed at giving all the glory to God.
Their lives has never been the same again after that wedding. In August, 1995, they took two week long seminar about Biblical Counseling and in September they both joined the "DTS Crossroads" at the University of the Nations, Kona, Hawaii to become Missionaries and went to the Philippines and Thailand for their outreach in December, 1995 until February, 1996. They came back to the Philippines in March of 1997 and started their outreach thru the sharing of the Gospel in various christian churches and other groups with the main desire of becoming a part of the global evangelization as proclaimed by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
God has opened a new horizon for them and gave each of them a heart for mission. In the course of their visitations to different Christian churches, God impressed in the heart of Sis. Marylou a burden for God's people to have a time of refreshing more so a place to rest with God. This gave birth to a vision about a Prayer Mountain. This vision came to fruition in November, 1998 when the initial construction of "Peniel Prayer Mountain and Campsite" begun under the supervision and initiative of the late Pastor Elmer Mangacu, who died with his wife in a hotel fire while attending a Christian Revival Conference, together with the unselfish assistance of many Christian brothers and sisters and others whose contributions to the saga of Peniel will all be remembered and appreciated.. The initial desire of Romy and Marylou was a place of livelihood for the victims of "Mt. Pinatubo" particularly those in Ayala, Magalang, Pampanga, Philippines but God changed such plan for allowing this vision to be fulfilled. Proverbs 19:21 says, "Many are the plans in a man's heart but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails (NIV)."
Their submission and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit has allowed them to rely fully to the will of God not their own will. By faith, they pursue their calling with such dedication believing that God will always give the desires of the hearts of those who continue to delight in Him (Psalms 37:4). Their initial vision came to pass in the course of the construction and operation of Peniel by providing regular employment to the staff and various individuals from the adjoining Barangays and more importantly introducing to them the "Good News" of our Lord Jesus Christ which ultimately changed so many lives. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
